Winner of the George Garrett Fiction Prize, two Desperados is a collection of eighteen stories, all with a Southwestern flavor. They range from very short to a full-scale novella. While these writings are, for the most part, realistic, they have the occasional sprinkling of magic. Among the motley gang of characters, we meet some smugglers, a runaway groom, a murderess, and even a ghost. The author, Susan Lowell, is a fourth generation Arizonan (but born in Chihuahua, Mexico), and she divides her time between her Tucson home and her ranch on the border.
